This is a new venue for 2025.
Coull Kirk sits gently in the Aberdeenshire countryside, on one of the oldest Christian sites in the region—first founded by St Nathalan in the 7th century. Steeped in history, the present church, built in 1796, is Category B listed and was lovingly restored in 1876, retaining its 17th-century West gable and distinctive birdcage belfry.
Inside, four exquisite stained-glass windows filter light across 18th-century pews and paraffin lamps, preserving the character and history of previous times. The surrounding graveyard, with memorials dating back to 1751, tells silent stories of generations past and provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors to stroll slowly back in time.
Now, in a new chapter, the Coull community is working to purchase the church from the Church of Scotland—to safeguard its legacy and renew its role as a gathering place.
As part of Doors Open Days, you are warmly invited to be a part of this journey. There will be guides to show you round both the church and the cemetery. Please come along and enjoy our community.
