Daingean goes Live!
QR codes videos bring Daingean’s history to life

We welcome you to Daingean’s Heritage trail. Join us at Daingean Town Hall on Wednesday August 21st at 7.00pm or Saturday 25th at 3.00pm. From here we will take a leisurely walk around the town and visit many of our noted historical sites. This is a tour with a difference. You will be treated to a short video of each site while you are at the location. This is possible through the installation of QR codes that can be read by your phone and will allow the video to play on your phone.

For example the plaque with a QR code at the Town Hall will give detailed information on this building, purported to have been designed by Gandon.
Originally a court house when Daingean, then called Phillpstown was the capital town in the county. When you walk to Daingean’s Protestant Grammar School of 1824 you will hear on your phone the details of how this school was funded.

There are 12 sites that have QR code and videos with information. These QR codes are permanently installed and can be viewed at any time.
The Heritage Week event offers a unique opportunity for you to share this historical stroll around Daingean with others on our Heritage Trail.
