Overview

Exhibition "Americana. Arts and Objects of New France" New France is a territory in North America occupied by France in the 17th and 18th centuries. Colonial administrators, merchants, military and religious then go to colonize, evangelize and francize the local populations. From these exchanges emerges a new interest in indigenous artifacts. The exhibition proposes to discover their diversity and their presence in the collections and cabinets of curiosities of the 18th century. Some objects also illustrate the intermingling of local and colonial influences.
