The castle was built from 1242 for Arnoux II, lord of Volkrange, on a rectangular platform surrounded by moats, which still remains. It is surrounded by a 30 hectare park. The architectural complex evolved from the sixteenth to eighteenth century with the addition of stables and dovecote, then in the nineteenth century with the construction of a new home and the development of a chapel.
