Discover an amazing church built by Georges Henri Pingusson
The church of the Nativity of the Virgin is erected on the site of the previous building, in the heart of the village. Its massive volume of dressed rubble closes the perspective of the street Gérard Mansion. Enjoying a dominant position thanks to the topography of the site, it imposes its austere presence on the visitor. For this project, G.-H. Pingusson opted for traditional architectural devices and retained the proportions of a country church. Covered with roofs with two low-pitched sides, the building develops from a rectangular plan oriented on an east/ west axis. The offset of the sewer heights of the roofs recalls the characteristic template of a village-street. The bell tower, with its ovoid base and triangular openings, marks the side entrance of the church. Access to the place of worship is through a garden planted with lime trees whose vocation is to make the transition between the material world and the Sacred. The limited number of openings in facades and the omnipresence
