Overview

This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the official residence of the Hungarian Ambassador in Brussels, which is usually closed to the public. As part of Heritage Day, visitors can enjoy guided tours that delve into the history, architecture and cultural significance of this building. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Hungarian culture and the diplomatic history between Hungary and Belgium. Whether you are interested in history, architecture or diplomacy, this event promises to be an enriching experience. The elegant Beaux-Arts-style mansion that houses the official residence of the Hungarian ambassador was built in 1926 by the architectural duo Dufas-Martin. Before it was acquired by the Hungarian state in 1975, it belonged to the owner of the newspaper Le Soir. Until the early 1990s, it housed the trade mission and commercial department of the Hungarian embassy. It then served as an embassy for two months in 1995 and became the ambassador’s official residence in 2003. A place and a history that you can discover during guided tours offered by embassy staff. Photographs are not permitted.
