Overview

Part of a tourism development project initiated in 2015 by the Departmental Council of Tarn-et-Garonne and VNF, the new site of the water slope of Montech was inaugurated in 2021, and has already conquered the many visitors who came to discover it. It presents a unique heritage around river tourism and its industrial treasures along the Canal des Deux Mers. At the start of the new intercommunal tourist office, located in the old paper mill, we take an unexpected 2.7 km walk along the side canal to the Garonne, discovering an exceptional site, both natural and technical. Updated, the water slope machine displays bright colors, inspired by the Memphis artistic movement! In summer a museum space located in a barge Freycinet welcomes the public for an immersive dive into the secrets of this incredible mechanics.
