🏰 Visit the Saint-Michel church and the medieval village of Cestayrols

Dive into the captivating history of Cestayrols, founded in 1252 by Olivier de Penne, driven from his lands during the crusade against the Albigenses. This charming fortified village, surrounded by ramparts and once accessible by two feudal gates (only one of which remains today), retains a circular layout typical of the Middle Ages. Its economy was flourishing there: 53 artisans, including 22 weavers, practiced their trade in the busy streets. In the heart of the village, discover the parish church of Saint-Michel, founded by testament in 1372 by Bernard de Penne, great-grandson of Olivier, to make it his burial place. 👉 Visit on your own or accompanied by a passionate guide.
