Discovery of the European aeronautical heritage, on nearly 25,000 m², with more than 80 aircraft, s…
As soon as you arrive in the museum's entrance hall, you will be greeted by two aircraft (one Stampe biplane and one glider, which has had its fabric covering removed so you can see what lies beneath), a balloon basket, and scale models of various sizes. Discover the reproduction of a woodworking workshop set up at the entrance to the lobby. Upon entering the Swiss hall, you will be able to view three Mirage aircraft as well as an exhibition on the Crusader (provided by a member of the association)... as if you were on an aircraft carrier! Come and discover a flight simulator in which Air Force pilots trained many years ago! Or you can take a photo of yourself in the front cockpit of a two-seater Mirage F1... An exhibition of ejector seats has been installed next to the Mirage III BS and a comic book reading area has been set up opposite the Mirage III RS. Leaving this first hangar, you will reach the outdoor collection, where you can discover a C160 Transall, near the Caravelle. As you approach the military communications museum, which houses onboard and portable radio stations from different countries, you will be greeted by a Cotal radar. In this West Hangar, you will also see the French Air Force's training aircraft. You can get up close to the aircraft sheltered in the various hangars on the site, which house part of the collections [including a giant diorama dedicated to the 1st GMS (Strategic Missile Group) of the Albion plateau, which you will find in the South hangar under the Mirage IV]. Throughout your visit, you will discover various exhibits: weapons, models (from 1/5th to 1/72nd scale), engines, radars, mannequins, etc. You can also see General Montgomery's DC3, which was restored a few years ago, as well as a Broussard (restored during the first lockdown), an F104 that arrived in early 2020, and among the latest aircraft to arrive, a Mirage III T (not yet reassembled), a Mirage 2000N, and a Super Etendard Modernisé! You can visit the Caravelle, sit on one of the seats and dream that you will fly to the destination of your choice! A small museum about this aircraft is also set up inside and you will have the opportunity to see the cockpit through a glass door. From an observation passageway, you can observe the restoration workshop from which the planes emerge with their new colors. In the north hangar you can discover a dozen devices and access to the front cell of a DC7 with access for people with reduced mobility. New: Guided tour via your smartphone! So, have a nice flight... Age from 0 to 99 y.o. Informations Free for children under 7 and €1 from 7 Accessibility
