Discovery of the Logis de Pierre Levée
Located on the hillside and overlooking the former Gulf of Pictons, present-day Marais Poitevin, Le Logis de Pierre Levée has crossed history, to reach us. Pierre Levée … This name recalls the existence in the same place, of a megalith disappeared, to give way around the fifteenth century to an old dwelling, of which today only a tower, a bread oven ... and a few underground tunnels whose secret remains well-guarded by our family. Property of the family of the Lords of Chateauneuf until the first rumblings of the Revolution, Le Logis de Pierre Levée then passes from family to family, until the grandparents of Jean Richard who was born here in 1921\\. He spent all his childhood there, discovering his passion for animals; passion, which he later cultivated by creating in 1963 «la Mer de Sable» in Ermenonville (Oise), 1st amusement park in the French style, then later the circus Jean Richard.
