Drama 'It's Now or Never'
The Tudor Artisan Hub Arts Collective, Carrick on Suir is staging a very special short original drama 'It's Now or Never' . The play is a fictional narrative created by four local writers, all members of Writing Changes Lives Writers' Collective, Carrick on Suir. It is infused with a rich tapestry of social history and generational anecdotes from the collective memory and experiences of older adults in three care home settings in Carrick -on-Suir, who generously shared stories earlier this year of a time when they were young, free, and single in the late 1950s/60s. This very special original social history play produced by local creatives and storytellers will bring you on a wonderful trip down memory lane to the 1960s, Carrick-on-Suir. The Setting for the play is the Ormond Dance Hall, Carrick-on Suir, 1960s: Four young people enjoy a night out: - Tess Comerford, a glamorous but nosey town telephone operator, who’s full of notions and everyone else’s business. Pearl, her sister, a young woman who is bold, fearless and defies authority. The fellas, Indian Flynn, a right ‘Flash Harry’ back from England for the first time since emigrating, full of bravado and stories of his adventures across the Irish Sea. The other, John Joe Ryan, the only son of a domineering father who is restless and yearns for change from the humdrum of rural farming life. The next ferry to England is at 8am. Who will be on it? Tickets €10.00 and pre-booking is required.
