Overview

The project White fish laundresses is inspired by and dedicated to the women who washed laundry in a traditional way in the village of Preko on the island of Ugljan. The core of the project is the picture book of the same name, created with the desire to present the cultural and traditional heritage of the island of Ugljan, the village of Preko and the tragic event in which the Preko washers died in a stormy sea in 1891. The story by Manuela Vladić-Maštruko with visually lavish illustrations is accompanied by a Time Machine of the village of Preko in which the way of life, work and survival in Preko and the city of Zadar are described, as well as less known toponyms, terms and words in the local dialect. The project will be presented through an exhibition and accompanying programs.
