Eastwood House
21 September 2025 (10:00 - 16:00)
We will be celebrating the architecture and history of Eastwood House, which has been an important local building since the early 19th century. We will be sharing some of that history with our visitors, much of which will also tell the story of the surrounding towns and villages and the changing social history and how that impacted the development of the present day area.
For Doors Open Days we will be offering guided tours which will be a truly unique opportunity to learn about this magnificent mansion house. Built in the 1830s as the mansion house for a private estate, Eastwood House has been a home and place of work to many people. Some have played an important role in the history of the local area and impacted the social, economic and cultural lives of those living nearby. As we tour the house, you will hear some of their stories while enjoying the beauty of its architecture and celebrating its current, and future role, as a busy community hub.
The house is also open to visitors who prefer to look around on their own rather than as part of a guided tour.
Tours: 10am, 11:15am, 1:15pm, 3:15pm.
Lasting approximately 45 minutes.
Hearing loop available in some parts of the building.
The tours will focus on the accessible areas of the house, although there may be a couple of areas at the end of the tour which can only be accessed by stairs and will be optional.
