Overview

The Eiffel Tower exceptionally reveals to you behind the scenes of the machinery of one of its historic elevators! Discover this unique heritage on the occasion of the European Heritage Days on 20 and 21 September 2025. From the opening of the Eiffel Tower for the 1889 World Exhibition, visitors can access the floors of the monument by taking lifts. If today these devices resemble common equipment, at the time, they constitute an industrial feat! Neither lifts in the traditional sense, nor funicular, nor cable car... The lifts of the Tower do not belong to any category and do not correspond to any reference in force. Since their first modernization in 1899, their mechanics has remained unparalleled in the world. Carefully preserved, this exceptional heritage still today attests to the visionary genius of Gustave Eiffel. On all the elevators of the Tower, there is only one left benefiting from the system closest to the original one: the elevator of the East pillar. During a guided tour by a Tower technician and accompanied by a reception agent, you will discover this ingenious operation that allows visitors from all over the world to enjoy the Parisian panorama at 115m high every day. You will also learn more about the care given to these elevators and, more broadly, about the daily gestures applied by committed technical teams who ensure the preservation of the monument. Informations Attention, limited places! The visit is free and in French. You will receive all practical information afterwards. Book
