Overview

Founded in the 12th century, the abbey of Blanche-Couronne, located on the commune of La Chapelle-Launay, was ceded in 2020 by the commune to the Department of Loire-Atlantique. A restoration project has been conducted since 2019 and the European Heritage Days are an exceptional opportunity to discover this witness of monastic architecture classified as a historic monument and meet women and men who work on its preservation. Opening on Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 12:30pm and from 2pm to 6pm. Les Compagnons de Blanche Couronne propose a visit of the exteriors with a focus on the history of the preservation of this abbey and the works undertaken. Presentation of the archaeological excavations carried out by the archaeological service of Loire-Atlantique. And demonstration of know-how: stone cutting... by the restorers of the company Lefevre.
