🎨 Exceptional cultural event in Lascaux IV

Snøhetta, the Departmental Council of the Dordogne and Sémitour-Périgord are pleased to invite you to a unique cultural event at the Centre International de l’Art Pariétal – Lascaux IV.

Experience an immersive reconstruction of the famous prehistoric rock paintings discovered in the 1940s, in a contemporary building designed by Snøhetta in collaboration with SRA Architects and scenographer Casson Mann. Opened in 2016, Lascaux IV is the link between prehistoric heritage and modern architecture, in the heart of the Vézère valley. Program: 13h30 - 14h00 | Dance show World premiere of Hidden, a fascinating show by choreographer Daniel Proietto, inspired by the architecture of Lascaux IV and the myths of prehistoric art, with star dancer Yolanda Correa. A collaboration between the Norwegian National Ballet, Know Nation and Snøhetta. 14h00 - 15h00 | Round table and book preview Discussion on the genesis of the Lascaux IV project and preview presentation of Snøhetta’s book by Frédéric Migayrou, addressing the architectural vision, integration into the landscape and associated projects. 15h00 - 16h30 | Guided architectural tours Walk through Lascaux IV and its facsimile with the members of the Snøhetta team, discover the behind-the-scenes of the project, its challenges and innovations. 4:30pm | Final remarks Closing of the event with thanks and reflections. This event also celebrates the Prix Houen 2023, the highest Norwegian architectural award, awarded to Snøhetta and the Conseil départemental de la Dordogne for Lascaux IV.
