150 years ago, Benedictine monks from the abbey of Mariastein were expelled by Bismarck’s policy and settled in Delle to create a college-convent. In 15 years, this college-convent will accommodate about 1,200 students. Initially, the monks wanted this school to be free, but the idea could not materialize. It will close its doors in 1913, notably following the 1905 law on the separation of Church and State, and prey to a strong anticlerical movement. Come and discover the college-convent on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. In the desire to project ourselves into the history of this place, we would like to know more about the people who have lived there since 1914.
