Exhibition The artistic heritage of the Chaussepied family
Châteaulin celebrates the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of its City Hall, an iconic building designed by Charles Chaussepied. This architect of historical monuments has profoundly marked Finistère by the richness and diversity of his achievements. His heritage has been extended through several generations, thanks to his children and grandchildren, all linked by the same passion for the arts and a deep attachment to Brittany. Everything begins in Quimper, in 1904, in a house designed by Charles Chaussepied. The Villa Liorzic, on Salonika Street, in Quimper, is the starting point of an artistic heritage that has been passed down through several generations, until today. Charles, Suzanne, André, Mikel, Patrik, Jean-François and Marie-Magdeleine all studied at the Beaux-Arts and bequeathed us a unique artistic production. Brittany is present in several aspects in their works, reflecting their deep attachment to this territory - marked by the maritime world, landscapes, traditions - and a certain Breton regionalism. This exhibition is a journey through the works and stories of the Chaussepied family, between common traditions and artistic paths specific to each one. This artistic heritage flows in their veins, like a living memory, taking shape through various media and techniques, such as engraving, painting, gouache, lithography, sculpture, ceramics, architectural plans, drawing...
