Exhibition on Free France at the Hôtel de Grand Quartier Général in Clévans
The Hotel of Clévans was built in 1739 for Joseph Lebas de Clévans, to advise(recommend) to the parliament of Besançon, coming from a Parisian family. Sold in 1804 by its heirs, this hotel became in 1847 the residence of the general commander(major) of weapons of the place(square) of Besançon, allocation(appointment) which is always his today. He saw passing(spending,crossing) several famous characters as the duke of Aumale (sons(thread) of the king Louis-Philippe), the baron Marulaz or the general de Lattre de Tassigny who stayed there in 1944\\. This hotel also served as seat(siege) to the Gestapo de Besançon from 1943 till 1944\\. Built in 1739, this place knew how to keep(guard) its character in spite of time(weather) and events of history(story).
