The history of this vineyard owned by the Bernard family goes back five generations. It begins in 1968, with the planting of 2 hectares of vines. Following the ploughing of one of the plots at Terre Fort-Est, many fragments of Roman tiles (tegulae), weights of weavers, ceramic dishes, broken pottery, pieces of amphorae and small coins were found, revealing the presence, of a Gallo-Roman villa on the site. This is also where the town would get its name «Gaillan-en-Médoc».
