Overview

Located south of the Tarn, at the foot of the Black Mountain, the village of Sorèze houses a unique glass museum, installed in the old hospice of the commune, built under Charles X. It was created in 1996 by Yves Blaquière, a scholar, passionate about history and glass. The association "Les Amis de Sorèze", which was founded in 1998, manages the museum with the help of the town hall and organizes exhibitions and conferences. It currently contains more than 1600 pieces of glass, from Antiquity to the middle of the twentieth century. The collections are characterized by two main characteristics: * Drinking glasses from the 17th to the 19th century. * The blue-green glassware of Languedoc.
