Overview

Join Carrowmore OPW Guides Kevin and John for a special tour of Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery - exploring the theme "Foundations of Farming". Carrowmore is the oldest passage-tomb cemetery in Ireland, and was built by some of the first farmers over 5500 years ago. Hear of the newest developments in research, genetics and scientific studies that unravel the stories of the communities farming in Sligo in the Neolithic Period. Please use public transport (Local Link 981) where possible as parking is limited. Please note the visitor centre remains closed due to renovations, but toilet facilities are available.
