Free guided tour of the Templar Church of Laguyon Temple
The Laguyon temple is marked by a religious building, with a long history. Its existence is attested in 1252, the parish is placed under the protection of Saint-Jean-Baptiste. It depended primarily on the Commandery of the Templars of Condat, more precisely the «Hospitallers» in 1239, (source: M.C. Ravidat «Commanderie Hospitalière de Condat», Edition du Moulin de St Jean de Côle - 2017), under the name «Domus de Lagueos». It was called «Preceptorate of Lagueo», before becoming a Laguyon temple in 1662\\. Historians have written, "The woodwork of the choir is decorated with fresh and naive paintings. They unfold under a mysterious and radiant eye of the 17th century.” In 1689, an episcopal visit mentions: "Du Temple le Sec. Antoine Abriac vicar perpetual; Sanctuary vaulted in pretty bad cob, copper custos, there is no sun or door. God is only a chasuble; the house consists of an uninhabitable room”.
