Overview

Discover the Lorin stained glass windows of the Saint-Martin church On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the church of Saint-Martin de Laons (Eure-et-Loir) will be exceptionally open to the public. A rare opportunity to discover this discreet gem of local heritage, usually closed to the public. The building houses a remarkable set of twelve large stained glass windows made between 1921 and 1924 by Charles Lorin, master glassmaker. Heir to the know-how of his father Nicolas, founder of the Lorin workshops in 1863, Charles Lorin signs here a luminous work, combining iconographic richness, finesse of drawing and brilliance of colors. These days will be an opportunity to rediscover the history of the church, to dive into the universe of stained glass art and to appreciate the spiritual and artistic significance of these unique windows. Heritage lighting will be proposed to accompany the visit. Free entry all weekend. Come and explore this little-known treasure in the heart of the village of Laons.

You will also be able to discover our exhibition "the Mysteries of Laons" including:

  • January 1899: The president "fallen from the train inaugurates the Laons station
  • Saint-Laurent: The forgotten statue 53 years old in Laons
  • Clock Cock: a man in the beak
  • Only one Laons in the World
  • But where did the centenary flag of the football club go?
