Free visit of the permanent exhibition on the natural history collections
In 1940, the Natural History Museum of Tours, which was created at the end of the 18th century, was completely destroyed by the bombing of buildings and collections. In the 1980s, the City of Tours decided to acquire a house of character located in the old Towers, the former presidium of the city, offering 1000 m2 distributed over four levels, to install its new museum. The first exhibition was opened to the public at the end of 1989\\. In 2003, this municipal establishment was labeled Musée de France by the Ministry of Culture. The museum was designed around the theme of water, evoked thanks to the colors (declination of greens and blues) and the shapes of the furniture.
