Overview

The abbey of Sainte-Croix was founded around 1135. It suffered over the centuries from destruction and reconstruction. Of the abbey church, rebuilt in 1748-1750, only the polygonal chevet and the arcades of the transept remain from the XII-XIII century. But you will be able to see the abbey manor. This dwelling from the first half of the 16th century, redesigned. In the middle of its south facade, we see a hexagonal staircase tower with circular crowning. This tower is cutaway to the height of the roof of the main building and, at its top, it has a circular plan with a conical roof. It is flanked to the east by a small turret on corbelling. From the entrance gate of the abbey, rebuilt in the 18th century, there remains only the arcade of the pedestrian entrance (the arcade is surmounted by a stone plate on which is engraved the saving given to the abbey in 1636 by King Louis XIII). Mr. and Mrs. Tanguy exceptionally open their door to the public. Open house Sun. 21 SEPT 2025: 3 PM to 5 PM Informations Free
