Overview

In summer 2004, Rally Round the Tower was established to galvanize community and public support for the idea of a heritage centre celebrating Clondalkin’s ancient Round Tower. Over 1,400 people came out on the street in support of the vision! 20 years later, and in-keeping with this year’s National Heritage Week theme of Connections, Routes and Networks, we invite you to celebrate the amazing heritage journey taken by the community in conjunction with South Dublin County Council.

Today, Clondalkin boasts over 15 organisations which specialise in different aspects of Clondalkin’s environmental, built and intangible heritage; with organisations frequently collaborating and networking in support of one another’s aims. Come dressed as monks, Vikings or from any historical period, resurrect your campaign t-shirt or choose any style of dress you want to celebrate Clondalkin’s heritage and meet members of your community organisations at their stalls and stands across both the Round Tower Visitor Centre and Áras Chrónáin. Enjoy the fun celebration with FREE music, face-painting, memorabilia stalls and surprise special guests as well as prizes (in different categories) for best fancy-dress.
