Overview

During a walk in the modernist garden, participants will be familiarized with the turbulent history of the monument to Fryderyk Chopin.

September 19

The walk will take place in the modernist garden of the 20th century in Łazienki Królewskie, which is dominated by the statue of Frederic Chopin by Wacław Szymanowski. We will talk about the complex history of the monument's creation, intertwined with the Polish road to independence, from the announcement of a competition for its design, to its implementation and post-war reconstruction. We will show the garden with the monument as a place of an excellent combination of art and nature, as an example of the synthesis of arts. The walk will be led by Aneta Czarnecka, Art Department of the Royal Łazienki Museum and Magdalena Lewna, Research Department of the Royal Łazienki Museum
