Overview

This Art Deco mansion was designed by Verviers architect Georges Dedoyard in 1930. Originally from Liège, the client commissioned this remarkable exponent of modernism, who was responsible for many of the city’s most famous buildings. Set back from the road, the building, with its roof terrace, is clad in Euville stone on the first two levels and washed granite on the third. Some frames and trumeaux have been adorned with ceramic tiles, while wrought iron, with a basket motif, is used for the window railings. The architect designed a cutaway to link the building, which opens onto both Avenue Franklin Roosevelt and Rue des Phalènes. A radiant sun motif surmounts the entrance door under an awning and transom bay, while a small garden, bordered by an original mid-height gate, adds a touch of greenery to the ensemble.
