Overview

The collections of the Museum of Old Toulouse were created by the association Les Toulousains de Toulouse from 1907 following donations, bequests and purchases. After being accommodated in various places made available by the town hall of Toulouse (Mission Barracks, Place de la Daurade; Hotel de Roquette, Rue Ozenne then at No. 6 of Rue Saint-Jean) the museum is definitively installed at the Hotel Dumay, building bequeathed to the association in 1947 by Doctor Siméon Durand. The museum has the ambition to present itself as a history book, telling visitors about the city of Toulouse through a rich iconography, works of art and objects that have been patiently gathered for a century by enthusiasts. It is the only establishment in the city to have large collections on these themes. However, it is not a history lesson that is delivered here, but rather an invitation to travel in the past while letting his imagination wander from the presented objects.
