Overview

Join our historian at Howth Castle for a highlights tour through the historic castle and its surrounding gardens to learn about the St. Lawrence family and the architectural beauty that is Howth Castle. With a presence in Howth since 1177, the St. Lawrence family were an important part of Irish life as Lords and Earls of Howth and their family seat has been built-on and expanded, through names like Bindon, Morrison and Lutyens, to reach its impressive form today. Having been a private family home until very recently, this is a unique place to visit and one of extreme importance in Irish history. This year is the first time that visitors can access the castle on a regular basis and we would be delighted to welcome you for Heritage Week 2024. The castle is awaiting restoration and is currently unfurnished but the stories and architectural features behind closed doors are no less interesting. PLEASE BE AWARE: there are a number of staircases throughout the castle which may be prohibitive for people with limited mobility. We wish to welcome all to Howth Castle so please contact ahead of booking if you have any doubts about accessibility. Admission is €10 for adults. Children under 12 are free of charge but please email or phone ahead to secure child tickets.
