Overview

The fortified castle of Fleckenstein, an emblematic giant of the Northern Vosges, stands as a sentinel on the defensive line that protected the imperial palaces of the Hohenstaufen of Haguenau and Kaiserslautern. With its defensive architecture and exemplary water management, the fortress was home to the family line until 1680\\. She surrenders without fighting to the armies of the Sun King who disarm her and destroy the seigneurial home. Today, visitors discover it to the rhythm of reconstructions that superimpose the past and the present and set off to conquer the summit they reach by penetrating the heart of the rock through an extraordinary maze of rooms and troglodyte stairs. They are rewarded with a breathtaking view.
