The name of Chevallerie comes from the eponymous Fief housing a large Templar Commandery installed on the site in the second half of the twelfth century. Of this initial building, nothing remains. If the history of the Castle or the Noble Hostel of the Chevallerie is rich and ancient, the current set has a mainly seventeenth century physiognomy, even if we do not know the exact date of construction. It is to the Babin family (Babin des Brétinières then his son Babin de la Chevallerie, secretary - Auditeur en la Chambre des Comptes de Bretagne), owners in the eighteenth century, that we owe the current castle in its entirety, without any modification or subsequent additions, apart from various destructions. The most "modern" buildings are the large nave, recently restored and the entrance pavilion on which we can read two dates: 1768 and 1770\\.
