Overview

Visit commented by the writer Alain Paraillous

Built in the mid-18th century on the site of a medieval fortress, this castle was built by Emmanuel Armand de Wignerod, (1720-1788), 2nd Duke of Aiguillon, minister of Louis XV. Abandoned during the Revolution, this superb residence was then used as a tobacco warehouse before becoming the Stendhal school city, named after the famous writer who wrote in Le Rouge et le Noir: "We will go to the castle of Aiguillon, between Agen and Marmande. They say that it is a country as beautiful as Italy." Informations Free.
