The Château du Retail has an architectural configuration typical of many Vendéen dwellings arranged in a U around a square courtyard. The presence of a rounded canal, probably present since the 14th century, gives it a particular charm. The succession of the lords who resided there and the structural changes they have made over the centuries is known. The courtyard of honor, by its characteristics, allows to follow this evolution, to tell the major stages. We will travel together more than six centuries of history, marked in particular by tragic events like that of 1793.
