Overview

The existence of a manorial fief in Bunehou is certified for at least the XIIth century, the manor, such as he(it) appears today, was built from the XIVth century according to a plan of Anglo-Norman type and was considerably transformed in time(period) Renaissance. They find in Bunehou the track the plan of Anglo-Norman type, also called "hall and a chamber-block". Several bodies of separated buildings(ships) have each a precise function(office). The hall, main element, shelters the reception hall of the Lord. The home is the family residence. He(It) kept(guarded) on his(its) eastern side, the aspect " strong house " of medieval time(period). The deprived chapel shows, by its imposing size, the importance of the fief. In time(period) Renaissance, Bunehou is transformed. The hall and the home are connected(bound) by a tower staircase built on a square plan. The west facade of the home is resumed(taken back) and opens on light by big(great) two-light frames. The hall is endowed with a ceiling and with elegant two-light frames replace the old(former) ogival openings. In the course of the XIXth century, Bunehou becomes a "village" sheltering several families. This situation generates modifications as for the use of the different buildings(ships). Works of restoration(catering) begun(undertaken) from 1980s allowed to save the site and to restore life in the manor of Bunehou. The creation of a garden comes supplement and emphasise this architectural heritage.
