Overview

Discover over a short walk the history of the town of Montigny-le-Gannelon, which was in the Middle Ages the second most important seigneury of the county of Dunois. The guide will introduce you to the remains of medieval fortifications and the Saint-Sauveur/ Saint-Gilles church.
The city was protected by a fortified castle and a walled enclosure raised in the 12th century of which it is still possible to see some vestiges such as the Porte Roland which allowed access to the city from Châteaudun, an old guard post as well as some turrets.
The church of Saint-Sauveur/ Saint-Gilles rebuilt at the end of the 16th century and at the beginning of the 17th century on Romanesque bases presents a completely redecorated interior in the 19th century. It is possible to admire a wooden shrine dated 1828 containing the relics of Saint-Félicité placed in a curious wax effigy.
Departure in front of the church.
Reservation with Grand Châteaudun tourism.
