Overview

Come and discover the Lycée Jules-Ferry, the seventh Parisian high school for young girls, opened in 1913… Initially formed by a new building and the wing of a former convent, the increase in the establishment’s staff required a major extension carried out in the early 1930s. From an architectural point of view, the Lycée Jules-Ferry is quite singular: it implements the rationalist architectural conventions born in the 19th century in the dynamics of public commissions. With its terraced roofs and reinforced cement structure, the building is also a precursor to the modernity of the 1930s. For the architecture of Parisian high schools, it is the missing link between Fénelon and Camille-Sée. The school belongs to the architectural heritage by the parties who presided over its design and is a unique monument in the National Education School Park.
