Overview

* The first hall of the Croix-Rousse celebrations - Known for its famous silk weavers, the district of Croix-Rousse was for a long time an industrial and popular place, isolated from the center of the city of Lyon. In the thirties, the building housing the current Théâtre de la Croix-Rousse was born: the first hall of the festivities of the canuts was born. Designed by Michel Roux-Spitz and inaugurated in 1931 by Edouard Herriot, this hall marks the beginning of a cultural life in the neighbourhood.
