Guided tours of the medieval site of Castelas d'Aumelas
Medieval site classified as Historical Monuments in 1989, dating to the oldest parts of the 10th century, this former fortress with military vocation appears as one of the fundamental milestones of the territorial and state-owned progression of the Guilhem of Montpellier, a millennium ago. It is from Aumelas that Montpellier will be born! Held successively by the king of Aragon, then the king of Majorca, the castle of Aumelas was definitively ceded to the king of the Franks in 1349, and holds today a highly symbolic value for all Occitania. Restoration work is planned in the coming years to preserve this building rich in history.
