Guided tours of the tidal mill of Prat
Mill in perfect working condition. Video tracing gift history, restoration and operation of a tidal mill. The Prat Mill is an old tidal mill, built in the 15th century and ruined in the late 20th century. Many tidal mills were active in Rance. They used the force of the tide to turn their wheels: a reservoir of water near the mill filled up at the rising tide, then poured into the Rance at the ebbing tide. By combining with the force of the ebb current, the water allowed the wheel, connected to the wheels, to move. The Moulin du Prat is unique in Rance today, thanks to the renovation it received in the 2000s, by the action of passionate volunteers.
