Saint-Germain-de-la-Rivière is a small village that holds many surprises. Cradle of the Man in Fronsadais where the Lady of Saint Germain was discovered some 16,000 years ago, you can see monolithic washhouses, a footbath, a mushroom farm in natural caves, a hermitage carved into the rock during the Gallo-Roman era, a 250-year-old plane tree, the entrance of the stone quarries of the castle of La Rivière... The Association for the Preservation of Saint Germain takes you on a 6 km walk in the hills of the village and will tell you all about its history.
