Habitation Saint-James: Immersion in railway culture
The Saint-James Rum Museum within the confines of the distillery of Ste Marie, is a colonial style house that offers us a very interesting exhibition of objects and ancient engravings on the history of the cane and rum since 1765, the creation of the first Saint-James distillery in Saint-Pierre. At the end of the garden is the distillation house where Charantais stills of type "Père Labat" are exhibited. In the gardens there are also steam engines, a huge paddle wheel and two locomotives, one of which will take you to the Sucrerie La Salle.
