Overview

Hamage, a millenary heritage On Sundays, 14 and 21 September, meet in Rue de la Faïencerie in Wandignies-Hamage for the exceptional reopening of the restored church of Hamage Abbey. Three models will be presented; they reconstitute the state of the abbey site in the 7th century (Merovingian era), 9th century (Carolingian era) and 12th century. A showcase will show objects found during archaeological excavations conducted from 1990 to 2002. Three exhibitions will also be installed in the restored church on the following themes: - The archaeological excavations of the site of Hamage. - The industrial history of Hamage, from sugar to earthenware. - The history of the abbeys of Val de Scarpe On Sunday, September 14, the two archaeologists who led the excavations (Etienne Louis and Pierre Demolon) will be present to guide you and answer your questions.
