Monument to 19 Shot on 6 May 1944 The monument of the gunmen is erected in memory of the 19 patriots of the Côtes-du-Nord who were shot on May 6, 1944 in Ploufragan, after the speedy judgment of a German court sitting at the Palais de justice of Saint-Brieuc, May 5, 1944\\. In 1944, the situation of the Germans in Brittany was critical. The 19 patriots were shot in retaliation, a month after a meeting of the German General Staff in Quintin, where acts of sabotage and aggression against German soldiers had been reported.
