20 September 2025 (10:00 - 16:00)
Join us for guided tours of the studios of Glasgow’s oldest radio station and The Hospital Broadcasting Service production office, one of the city’s grand Victorian office buildings.
The volunteer-run radio station was launched by Lord Provost Donald Liddle on Christmas Day 1970 and pre-dates both Radio Clyde and BBC Radio Scotland.
You’ll will be able to see the impressive entrance vestibule and the radio studios on the 4th floor.
The offices have been modernised over the years so visitors won’t be able to see original fittings and fixtures but will be able to appreciate the impressive building.
You’ll see programmes being broadcast live, understand how the radio station manages to operate round the clock and how things have changed over the last 55 years.
There will also be an opportunity to operate one of the studios.
The radio station hasn’t just entertained patients for last 55 years, it’s also provided a launching pad for many of today’s radio stars including Ken Bruce, George Bowie, Paul Coia and Ross King.
Over the years more than two hundred of the volunteers have moved into professional roles across the media, so if you are interested in following them, perhaps this is the ideal visit for you.
