Overview

13 September 2025 (08:00 - 18:00) 14 September 2025 (08:00 - 18:00) Based in the island of Hoy in Orkney, Hoy Heritage Centre is a community run venue sharing the stories of Hoy with visitors and locals. We are housed in a former kirk and our community is the parish formerly served by Hoy Kirk. We hold exhibitions and events, we house a natural history browsing library and we are establishing a community archive. Come and see our special exhibition of Andrew Parkinson’s Rackwick houses woodcuts celebrating the venacular architecture of our small island community. This collection of 40 woodcut prints was made as part of an ongoing series by the artist. We will also have displays of then and now photographs of Rackwick and an archeological survey of Rackwick including ‘The house that was built in a day’.
