Overview

Apollo Swing is delighted to offer you a unique and dynamic introduction to Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop, blending both solo and partner dancing. Designed for beginners, this workshop is a fantastic opportunity to discover the joyful world of swing dancing, set to the infectious rhythms of 1930s and 1940s swing jazz. This workshop is open to all beginners, with no prior dance experience required. Come alone or with a partner — everyone is welcome and encouraged to learn at their own pace. Solo Jazz is a dance that originated in the 1920s–1930s, known for its dynamic energy and strong sense of individual expression. Inspired by Charleston, swing, and African-American dance styles, this solo dance allows everyone to explore their own style, have fun, and move to the catchy, syncopated rhythms of jazz music. Lindy Hop is a partner dance that emerged in the 1920s–30s in Harlem, New York, during the golden age of swing and jazz. It is known for its joyful energy, catchy rhythm, and freedom of expression. It’s a street dance, where the connection between partners and with the music is key. Inspired by Charleston, roots jazz, and African-American dances, Lindy Hop is playful, dynamic, and accessible—even for total beginners. The workshop will be in French and/or English. From 15:00 to 15:45: Solo Jazz (is danced individually) From 16:00 to 16:45: Lindy Hop (is danced in pairs) In collaboration with Apollo Swing and Complexe Albert Hall.
