Italian Garden and Arandora Star Memorial is the world's largest permanent
memorial to the 805 victims of the tragedy. The Garden is an enclosed space
adjoining St Andrew's Metropolitan Cathedral. A paved and grassed area
contains a modern monument of large mirrored plinths inscribed with verses
from the scriptures and Italian poets. Visitors can wander through the
construction - there is a water feature that runs through the centre of the
garden and an olive tree symbolising peace. A plaque on the east wall of the
garden lists the names of the 94 Italians from Scotland who died. You have the
option to visit the site and explore it for yourself, or attend a guided tour.
