HIKING THE GR 123 THROUGH SANTURTZI

The GR 123 trail passes through Mount Serantes as it crosses Santurtzi. Throughout history, its strategic location, overseeing the Abra and providing maritime access to the Bilbao estuary, has led to the construction of various military buildings on its summit and slopes. The two main elements of this fortification system are the Serantes Fort and the Summit Tower, built during the Carlist Wars.
 

In addition to visiting these fortifications, the guided tour will also explore the surrounding area's flora and fauna.

RECORRIENDO EL GR 123 POR SANTURTZI 

La Gr 123 recorre el monte Serantes a su paso por Santurtzi. A lo largo de la historia su situación estratégica en la vigilancia del Abra y acceso marítimo a la ría de Bilbao han hecho que se hayan sucedido sobre su cumbre y laderas edificaciones de carácter militar. Los dos elementos principales del sistema de fortificaciones son el Fuerte de Serantes y el Torreón de la cumbre, construido con motivo de las guerras carlistas. 

Además de visitar las fortificaciones durante la visita guiada podremos conocer la fauna y la flora del entorno.

GR 123 IBILBIDE LUZEA, SANTURTZITIK 

GR 123ak Serantes mendia zeharkatzen du Santurtzi parean. Historian zehar, Abraren zaintzan eta Bilboko itsasadarrerako itsas sarbidean izan duen kokapen estrategikoaren ondorioz, gailurra eta hegalak eraikin militarrez josi dira. Gotorlekusistemaren bi elementu nagusiak Serantesko gotorlekua eta gailurreko dorrea dira, karlistaden ondorioz eraikia. 

Bisita gidatuan, gotorlekuak bisitatzeaz gain, inguruko fauna eta flora ezagutzeko aukera izango dugu.
